Glasses for blue light?

If you wear glasses, you may have been offered "blue light filtering glasses," which are primarily intended for people who work in an office and stare at a screen all day. These glasses look no different from regular glasses, perhaps aside from a slight yellow tint. They are supposed to filter out the potentially harmful blue light spectrum of an LED screen to avoid eye strain during hours of work on the computer. However, they do not really block blue light completely and only marginally improve your evening light situation. A true "blue light blocker" should consist of clearly recognizable orange-tinted lenses and filter out all blue light over a broader spectrum. However, the effect on the circadian rhythm depends much more on the amount of light, whether it is warm or cool white. So if you cannot avoid bright light in the evening, we recommend considering orange sunglasses.
